The allotted file space for each package defines how much total hard drive space is available for you use.

On the proper web hosting packages, the allotted space can be used for MySQL databases, web site file storage and email.

Hard drive space is easily monitored from your web hosting control panel.
Monthly Transfer:Monthly Transfer

Monthly bandwidth transfer is the amount of bandwidth used by visitors accessing your site. As an example, If a single visitor accesses an image file that's 1 MB in size, then 1 MB of traffic has been used. If 50 visitors view that same image, then 50 MB of traffic is used.

While monthly bandwidth transfer may seem to be out of your control, you can control how much is used by doing your best to ensure that your site files (mainly image files, audio files and movie files) are kept as small as possible without compromising the look and function of your site.

Monthly bandwidth transfer is easily monitored from your web hosting control panel.

@yourdomain Email Accounts (POP/IMAP):POP / IMAP Email Accounts

Your allotted email accounts can either be used as POP email accounts, IMAP email accounts or mixture of the 2. You will specify which protocol your will use when you setup your email application to check your email.

POP Email is checked from our mail server and stored on your hard drive. This protocol is preferred if you check your mail from a single computer and/or you receive large attachments on a regular basis. Since the mail is saved onto your hard drive, you don't have to worry about the storage quota specified for that particular email address.

IMAP email is checked from our mail server and stored on our mail server. This protocol is preferred if you check your email from multiple computers or devices. Because your mail is stored on the server, each computer or device will be viewing the same stored information, meaning that if you send an email from your iPhone, it will also be viewable from webmail or your mail application on your computer.
@yourdomain Email Aliases / Forwards:Email Aliases / Forwards

An Email Forward or Alias is an address @yourdomain that, when received, immediately forwards to another address. For instance, sales@yourdomain.com could be setup to forward to bobsmith@yourdomain.com or it could instead forward to bobjsmith4559@aol.com. This will allow you to issue email addresses @yourdomain.com to people who don't necessarily need or want a POP or an IMAP address.
Email Autoresponders:Email Autoresponders

Email Autoresponders send a message back automatically to anyone who sends an email to a certain account. This can be useful for times when you are on vacation, unavailable, or if you have a generic message that you wish to automatically reply with.
Secure Email Sending/Receiving (SSL)Secure Email Sending/Receiving (SSL)

When using MacHighway's mail server, you have the option of securing the processes of sending and receiving your email with SSL. This encrypts the transmission of data from your mail client to our server and back again, protecting your information from anyone who may try to "listen in".

Domain Keys Email AuthenticationDomain Keys Email Authentication

DomainKeys is an e-mail authentication system that allows for outgoing mail to be checked against the server it was sent from to verify that the mail has not been modified. This ensures that messages are actually coming from the listed sender and allows abusive messages to be tracked with more ease.
SPF Email AuthenticationSPF Email Authentication

SPF will specify which machines are authorized to send email from your domain. This means that only mail sent through this server will appear as valid mail from your domain when the SPF records are checked by the recipient's mail server.

Generally, there is a master FTP username and password for full access to you server space and secondary usernames and passwords that would be given to other contacts to upload and/or download large files to and from your site.

Secure File Transfer Protocol is the exact same as FTP except that transmission of files between your computer and the server is securely encrypted.
