Do you mean a PayPal (or similar) button? Or do you want a full-fledged store?

I want to sell a couple of items from my website. I made it in iWeb. Does that answer the question? I just want to be able to sell from my site like amazon does. Just to view the product and click a button to buy.

Hi, Mrs Scrapbook

You haven't really given us much to go on but I'm going to try my best anyway, As your website is built in iWeb.

If you would like to add one of the several PayPal buttons you will need to visit their website login and find the relevant section they will most likely give you an HTML iframe or similar. Then in iWeb using the widgets section choose the HTML snippets widget.

And place it on the page where you would like the button to appear then you will take the HTML code that you receive from PayPal and paste it in the relevant box.

I'm guessing you have a product page with pictures and an item description for each item that you are making available for purchase. If so you will need to set up a button for each item you are selling with its own custom price on PayPal's website then do what I have mentioned above to insert the button on the webpage.

I'm going to take a guess that you don't have many items for sale so PayPal is most likely you will best option, If you have quite a large range of items for sale you might want to look at a E-Commerce systems I believe companies like Amazon offer these kinds of services. If you would like to host your own I believe there's quite a few one click install options that MacHighway offer that our free.

I was told by a friend from class that I need a "cart" but I don't know what that means. I will want to sell like 2 things. I saw Oscommerce was on the front page but I don't know how to make it look like the iWeb site and I don't get it so I will look at Paypal. I thought this was supposed to be easy.

Hi, Mrs Scrapbook

I was told by a friend from class that I need a "cart" but I don't know what that means.

Your friend is definitely referring to a full fledged E-Commerce solution, Either self hosted or offered by a third party.

MacHighway Offers one click installation of the following;

Magento
OpenCart
PrestaShop
Zen Cart
osCommerce
TomatoCart
phpCOIN

But I do not have any experience with self hosted e-commerce solutions And I guess that these software packages would require some way to be able to make credit card and bank transactions which I'm guessing you would have to pay for how this works I have no idea as I mentioned above. I have little to no experience with E-Commerce.

I will want to sell like 2 things.

As I mention above in my earlier post this may not be the best way to go for just a couple of items. I would like to point out that I did use Paypal as an example.

And you may want to take the time to research alternatives to Paypal.

I saw Oscommerce was on the front page but I don't know how to make it look like the iWeb site and I don't get it

I hate to tell you that you are dreaming if you think You are going to be able to integrate this or any other e-commerce solutions that I mentioned above into your iWeb website.

Personally I would add a link to the main menu item in your iWeb Website. and then install one of the above e-commerce solutions if you decide to go this way.

In your "public_html" folder in a subdirectory called "store" This would give you the following URL "http://example.com/store"

Then I would go even one step further and add a subdomain "http://store.example.com" Which I would then redirect to "http://example.com/store"

So I will look at Paypal. I thought this was supposed to be easy.

E-Commerce easy, NO way. There's a lot involved especially when it comes down to taking someone's money.

Paypal will let you set up a "Add to cart" button.
