Install a wordpress backup plugin. WP has an informative page on backing things up.

I've liked both "EZPZ One Click Backup" and "WP-Backup".

You just need to make sure you backup both the WP files (in the directory where you installed WordPress) *and* your database.

    Am I right, guys?

You can backup the database using phpMyAdmin or whatever its called.

I did the transition from legacy a couple years ago and I really don't remember any trouble.

Yes that's all you need to do to make it complete backup of WordPress.

Yes you can choose to back up the database from phpMyAdmin OR Or you can do a backup from the cPanel --> files --> Backups, Once you're in there you can choose which database to download.

If flaherty is moving from Legacy, backing up in cPanel isn't an option. We offer instructions for making the WP switch from Legacy to cPanel here: https://customers.machighway.com/kno...yarticle&id=33 - Really, the most important pieces to make sure you can rebuild your existing WordPress are:
    1) Your MySQL database. (you can export this through phpMyAdmin, or as Greg indicates, there may be a plug-in that can also do this for you).
    2) Your Themes, Plugins and Uploads folder.

Jesse, Oh you are most likely correct I presumed he was trying to update a very old version of WordPress.

Never a bad idea to offer options though. You may have indirectly answered someone else's question (thus, the magic of forums).
