File Manager Display - not showing folders/files

    Hello forum members,

I've just started using MacHighway plus Cyberduck for the FTP work. Previously I'd used nothing but Yahoos webhosting and it's tools. I registered within 24 hours.

I have not created any .html or webpages of any kind. I did create three sub-domains which I can see listed on the CP panel, and when I click on them I see that the document root directory is for example /public_html/'aircraft'.

However, when I click on one of these sub-domains and thus taken to the MacHighway File Manager page, I'm told the directory is empty. Also I not that under the file structure 'Collapse All, /home/my domain' the 3 sub domains aren't listed.

Odd as within the previous hour I ftp a bunch of jpeg's to this directory (I can see these files in this location when I use Cyberduck).

Refreshing the File Manager page doesn't show anything. Is there a time delay before any files that have been ftp to the site are visible?

As a test, I decided to upload a file and also create a new directory from the drop down menu on this File Manager page.

    1. I clicked 'new folder', in the pop up window I created a new folder name. I noticed that the second box 'New Folder will be created in: ' had truncated the directory name, that is it should have displayed 'aircraft', instead it showed 'rcraft'. Weird or what?. So I typed in '/public_html/aircraft' as that is the correct full name of the directory.

I get AJAX error; please reload this page and try again I get this error with any permutation of directory name.

I then added a new file from the pull down menus, this time I called it index.html. It seems to have done something (no error message) but even after refreshing the screen, File Manger states there's nothing in this directory.

Now if I select the 'home' icon on this page, I'd expect it to show me all the default files that MacHighway has provided for my domain plus the new directories plus the files I know were ftp'd to the site today. Why can't I see anything listed?

I hope that this has something to do with my new registration being within 24 hours, hence the domain isn't live. But that really shouldn't matter, as Cyberduck can see the entire file structure on MacHighway.

    Simon,

I apologize but File Manager isn't supported on that package which is likely why you're not seeing accurate results. Please be sure to stick with your FTP client (CyberDuck) for file management.

Tyler, that's atrocious! Surely MacHighway would want it's user base to use it's own proprietary management tools like file manager/ftp. That interface page sure looks better than the ancient Cyberduck interface. I just checked the 'details' for the packages on the homepage and nothing is stated anywhere for any of the packages that there is/isn't available the file manager through the CP. So is that FM tool an oversight? Is it supposed to be used by anybody? Which 'package' is it available with? Got to admit I'm a bit stunned really.

Thanks for your quick reply, that was appreciated.

    Simon,

I apologize if there's a misunderstanding but File Manager isn't our proprietary tool, but one that comes with cPanel. We find it to be frequently incorrect in the details it provides, as well as being unreliable and lacking some key functionality. This is why all of our instructions point customer's toward using an FTP client.

    Thanks,

Thanks for clarifying that, I believe I was misunderstanding ownership of FM, I had assumed it was an MH tool being on the CP.
