Support Topics: SSL: User's Guide: Shared SSL vs. Virtual SSL

MacHighway offers shared SSL (for example: https://secureexample.machighway.com/www.yourdomain.com) as an included cost with many of our packages.

We support an implementation of Secure Sockets Layer 3.0 which allows for virtual secure servers (for e-commerce) for each virtual domain (for example: https://secure.yourdomain.com). Because some of our clients may want to have their own secure server instead of "secure.machighway.com" each virtual domain subscriber can have their own virtual secure server (with their domain name) - To do this you must acquire your own digital certificate through MacHighway. For information on digital server certificates go to:

Thawte or Verisign

Before applying for a digital certificate through one of the above SSL certificate providers, it is necessary to contact us so that we may order your desired SSL product. Virtual Secure Servers are a yearly $25/set up fee and the cost of the SSL certificate through your preferred vendor.

If you have any questions about this, please contact our support staff.
