Calendars

Support Topics: Calendars: How to: Upload iCal files

What you would use this for: To share your iCal calendars with your visitors.

You can do upload your calendars 2 ways. The first set of instructions is for WebDAV and the second set is for FTP.

Uploading to a WebDav accessible directory

What You Need:
iCal
A WebDAV accessible directory
(Setup instructions)

NOTE: If you are intending to setup phpicalendar, please read those instructions first, as the example "Calendar" directory in these instructions is different from the default phpicalendar directory.

1. In iCal, go under the Calendar menu and select "Publish..."

2. In the resulting dialog box, select the file name you'd like to publish the Calendar as (you probably won't want to change the name), in the "Publish On" drop down menu, select "a private server". This will cause the window to display more options. The first item is "Base URL:", in that field type the URL of your WebDAV accessible folder. If the folder is called "Calendar" and it resides directly in your "public_html" folder, then the base URL would be: http://www.examplesite.com/Calendar ("examplesite.com" would be replaced with your domain name). In the Login and Password fields, enter the Login and Password you specified for that WebDAV enabled folder.

3. Click the publish button.

Uploading via FTP

What You Need:
iCal
An FTP client
(Transmit - external link)

1. In iCal, highlight the calendar you want to upload on the left "calendars" panel

2. In the menu bar, open the File menu and choose "Export". Export this calendar to your desktop.

3. Open your FTP client and login to your server space.

4. Upload the calendar into the desired location of your site. For most, loading it into the public_html folder will be good enough.
