Support Topics: Email: How To: Setup Apple Mail Application (POP)
Double Click the Mail App
icon to open the Mail App. Once open, go to Mail > Preferences...
in the menu bar.

Once in the preferences, click on Accounts icon
at the top of the preferences pane. On the bottom of the left
hand side, click on the + icon to add a new mail account. On the
right side, you will see a place to enter your settings. Start
by selecting POP from the Account Type pulldown menu.

In the Description field, you can type anything.
This is so that you can identify which email account you're working
on (since the Mail App allows you to check and send from multiple
accounts). In this example, we've just called the account MacHighway
mail.
In the full name field, type your name.
The email address field is where you type the
POP email account you setup in the MacHighway Mail Control Panel.
Click Continue.

In the Incoming Mail Server field, type mail.machighway.com
In the User Name field, type your username (this
is the same as your email address, except you'll use a % instead
of an @)
In the Password field, type the password that you assigned to this email address when you set it up in the email control panel.
Click Continue.

In the Outgoing Mail Server
box, type in your ISP's SMTP server. If you're not sure what that
is, contact your ISP and ask them to give you that information. (Why do you recommend using my ISP's outgoing mail server?)
Click Continue.
You will see a screen confirming your settings. Click Continue. You can click Done on the resulting screen.
Lastly, Go back to the Mail menu, select preferences, and accounts. Highlight the account you just made by clicking on it. Click the Advanced box
near the top of the preferences pane. In the Advanced preferences,
you will want to select the drop down menu below Remove copy from
server after retrieving a message: - In this drop down menu select
Right Away.

You've now completed the setup. Close the preferences
window and you should be ready to start using your mail account.
