Below are the most common bounce back e-mail codes you will encounter and explanations as to what they mean. The bounceback code will be listed somewhere in the body of the message. It will look something like this:

<example@exampledomain.com >
(reason: 511 sorry, no mailbox here by that name (#5.1.1 - chkuser))

| 451 |
This server is currently unavailable, please try later.. (This is due to Windows Greylisting that our server uses) Look here for a more in depth explanation. |
| 501 |
Syntax error in parameters or arguments (no @ sign, or a missing bracket in the address) |
| 511 |
The e-mail address doesn't exist on the mail server. |
| 550 |
Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable - usually means the same as a 511 . |
