GoLive CS

Double click the Adobe GoLive icon to open the application. In the menu bar select Site > Settings.

You will be presented with a new window. Select Publish Server on the left pane of the window. On the right pane, click the Add... button.

You will be presented with another window. The lower half of the window will ask for the server settings. The Nickname field is an arbitrary field. You should fill this in with your domain name or any other descriptive text that will let you know what set of settings you're working with. The protocol field should be set to ftp. In the Server field, type in the name of the FTP host server as listed in your email entitled "From MacHighway: Your MacHighway Account Information". Under directory, type public_html/ - this is the folder where you site will be housed on our server. Under username and password, type the FTP username and password you've selected for this domain name. If you are unsure of what to use, you can find the correct settings in your email entitled "From MacHighway: Your MacHighway Account is setup". Click the checkbox to use Passive Mode and click OK. GoLive is now setup to access your site.

You can download Adobe GoLive here.

Older Versions of GoLive

Double click the Adobe GoLive icon to open the application. In the menu bar select File > FTP Browser.

You will be presented with a new window. Type the FTP server name from your welcome letter from MacHighway into the Server field. Leave the Directory field blank. Type the username and password you selected with MacHighway (which can be found in the welcome letter also) in their respective fields. After you've entered in the correct information click Connect.

A list of the files on the remote server will appear below. You will see 4 folders. Double click on the folder titled public_html. This will open the public_html folder where your website will be housed.

This is where you place files for your website. The index.html file is placed there by default - this is the file that comes up automatically when visitors come by either by http://yourusername.machighway.com/ for purist customers, or for customers with virtual domains, http://www.yourdomain.com/. You can change the index file anyway you like.

To upload files you drag and drop them from your computer into this window - just like copying files to another volume on your Mac. Likewise, downloading works by dragging and dropping.
